Day1: 22 September- Flew from Bangalore
to New Delhi. Air Asia. Weather was great and the travel very enjoyable. Stayed
at Dee Marks Hotel and Resorts. The resort is very close to Delhi Airport. The
place is called AeroCity. The Cab / Auto will charge you a good amount, approximately
350-400 Rupees from Airport to the Resort. Evening took a, auto rikshaw and
visited India Gate. Very beautifully lit with different colors. The Thiranga or
tricolor of Indian flag makes it look beautiful. Around India gate you can also
see several water fountains lit in tri-color Orange-White-Green representing
the Indian Flag. We then walked around and took a rickshaw to kartavya path we
could click few pics but from a far distance there is a very tight security and
visitors are not allowed near the new parliament. We embarked on the Delhi
metro and reached aero city and reach the hotel we called it a day.

Day 2: 23-Sep-23 we had booked a cab for
a day tour from Delhi to Rishikesh and Haridwar. The driver arrived on time by
6:00 AM. We reached Rishikesh by around 11 as there was a little traffic just
by the time, we were about to reach there is a very narrow road which caused
some congestion. The first place we saw around Rishikesh was the triveni ghat
near to that is Janaki jhula which has three lanes on the bridge itself the
left and the right most lanes are for two Wheelers and the center lane is for
the people to walk across the bridge. For some reason there's create a lot of
honking when they arrived at Janaki jhula, and it's gets created. We then
proceeded towards we crossed a small river by boat the cost of the river
crossing is ₹40 per person there is quite frequent boat that keep crossing
across the lake it's just 2 minutes cross across the Ganga. other side of the
river there are two places watch and we crossover a guide came across and
offered to show us five places for 50 bucks. We were wondering whether it was
worth as most of this was just around the radius of a kilometer. But still we
thought it would be a good idea to engage a guide so that we don't miss out on
the few places within the short span of time that we had. we saw
the ram temple, swarga arohana temple where pandavas prayed before ascending to
Heaven, Paramartha Ashram, The Rudraksha tree. The guide also showed us a show
room by UP Government as he mentions so, where we bought couple of chains of
rudraksha, 7 planetary stone chain. We said bye to Guide and rewarded him well.
We crossed back the river and had lunch at ‘Chotiwala restaurant’. Its got a
beautiful view. From Rishikesh we travelled towards Haridwar. Reached ‘Harki
paudi’ the place where Vishnu feet has appeared. At the Ganga Ghat we both took
a Dip. There are really clean and good dress changing places very we can easily
change dress post the ganga bath. We
took some seats near the ganga shore. By 6 the preparation for the veneration
(aarthi) started. Exactly by 6:30 the Arthi took place. It goes on for 10-15
minutes. One of the beautiful evenings we spent. Very beautiful, serene and
never-miss-an lifetime opportunities. We
returned to Delhi the same day by around 11:30 PM. It takes ~5 hours between
Haridwar and Delhi. We stayed very close to Railway station as we had to catch
vandebarath to Katra the next day at 6:00 AM

Day3: 24-Sep
(Katra): We woke up early
morning to catch our Vandebharath from Delhi to Katra. The NDLS is buzzing with
activities already. We pulled 2 of our suitcases and entered the station. On the
right side you will find a board for escalators. Take those based on which
platform you are boarding. The train arrived at 5:45 just 15 minutes before
boarding and 6:01 it moved. We had booked Executive AC Chair car to have a good
experience. We get fed with a lot of food constantly. More on those are on my
youtube shots here: https://youtube.com/shorts/pQ2pFmy5JyE
& https://youtube.com/shorts/49z9LEeIkF4.
We reached Katra by 2:10 PM. As we were already served lunch we were not so hungry.
We took a prepaid (200 Rs) Auto to Fern Residency. The hotel is well located
and good one as well. I had booked it through Club Mahindra Affiliation. After
taking some rest we went around enquiring about the next day’s plan for
boarding helicopter, RFID, and other details. It is so that pre booking make everything
very easy. And you must arrive that same day. There is no prepone or get it day
before concepts. In case you are planning a trip to Mata vaishnovdevi my sincere
advice would be to book everything ahead. The helicopter and stay all open up
60 days before on the following website. https://www.maavaishnodevi.org/

Day 4 25-Sep Helicopter to Bhavan & Horse Ride –
Morning we had our helicopter at 1:00 PM boarding time. But we decided to show
up a little early. September was not a
heavy rush season. We had Dal-roti for breakfast and landed up at the helicopter
base. The person there advised us to show up after some time. We spent couple of
hours in the waiting room. It was cool and has waiting chairs and also good
toilet facility. Next to the Helicopter base Sanjichat there is a small shop
where you get bread sandwich, Maggie, juice, biscuits etc. Water bottles are
also available. By 11 again we went back to the counter, by now the person at
the counter knew we wouldn’t rest until we got our turn. So, he did a verification
and gave us our token #. We also got our RFID at the same counter base as we
had already booked. After that a Van takes 6-7 people each time to the helicopter
base which is 2 minutes from the counter. Now after reaching the helicopter
base we ended up waiting another 1.5 hours as the helicopter takes 5-6 people in
each batch. There are 2 providers and each take turns to drop their registered
people, and with a small security check we then boarded the helicopter. Our
Backpack, Mobile everything gets taken. For security purposes and also so that
we don’t end up distracting the pilot or start shooting the scenes and drop the
mobiles <span face=""Segoe UI Emoji",sans-serif" style="mso-ascii-font-family: Cambria; mso-char-type: symbol-ext; mso-hansi-font-family: Cambria; mso-symbol-font-family: "Segoe UI Emoji";">😊. Once we land at the bhawan helicopter based,
a 2 km walk to darshan has to be covered. There also you can hire a horse for
~1 KM. but the last 1.5 kms anyone has to walk. The walk was peaceful. Little
crowded but was manageable. Every few steps you will find water dispensers which
dispense hot water and cold water also <span face=""Segoe UI Emoji",sans-serif" style="mso-ascii-font-family: Cambria; mso-char-type: symbol-ext; mso-hansi-font-family: Cambria; mso-symbol-font-family: "Segoe UI Emoji";">😊. We
finally reached bhawan and then the task was to keep our shoes, backpack and
mobiles in locker. We got to know that there is a special place for those who
take helicopter ride and special gate called ‘Gate 5’. The locker base is
called Room 4 near Room 8 <span face=""Segoe UI Emoji",sans-serif" style="mso-ascii-font-family: Cambria; mso-char-type: symbol-ext; mso-hansi-font-family: Cambria; mso-symbol-font-family: "Segoe UI Emoji";">😊.
The steep steps to reach room 4 was little breath holding. But we
managed to climb it up, went up to room 8 to get a token, came down to get a
locker and dumped everything. We entered Gate 5, which is like the sheegra
dharshan concept, but as the crowd was less, everyone who knew about this took
the route irrespective of having booked the helicopter. From Gate5 we got
darshan within 10 minutes and heard several devotees mention that they are
being annual visitors this was the first time they got such good view and shortest
time. So, I knew Mata had blessed this visit.
With that we come down & went up the room 4 steep steps and got our
items. The next was to have lunch, we had Dal Rice just opposite the Gate 5 in
a restaurant. Post that we were walking down and saw a long line, out of
curiosity we asked what’s the line for and understood it was for “Baba Bharivonath”
darshan. We knew that after visiting Mata we have to visit baba bharivonath.
Just didn’t realize we had hit the queue just about there. It took us 2 hours in the queue which finally
takes us to a ropeway (100 Rs both way) and drops us at the other side. The darshan was done in like 15 minutes
(guess it took us more time at bharivonath visit then Mata darshan! We then had 2 choice either go back to ropeway
and reach back bhavan and wait for the helicopter which was next day (as I ended
up getting a next day slot which booking online) or just walk down the 14 kms
and reach Katra. We thought it was best to walk down or take a horse and reach
Katra as we had our flight back next day. It was one of the best decisions. We
got horses on the side of Baba Bharivonath it costed at 1300 per person. The horse was well built, and very mild in
their demeanor. So we descended in 2.5 hours of time. We started at around 5:00
ish and reached the base around 7:30. We
walked for a kilometer or so and then returned our RFID tag. We had called for
a cab service of Fern Residency and in 10-15 minutes he arrived. We reached the hotel, took our bags from the
reception and checked in to another hotel which we at booked ‘The Nek’. Kind of
new one and manageable. Opposite to The Nek is ‘Kake the dabha’. We had dal-roti
, returned back to hotel and called it a day! It was a beautiful and blessed
day.

Day 5: 26-Sep – Travel to Jammu Airport and return to Bangalore.
The Next day we had booked a cab for Jammu airport. So the driver arrived by
9:00 AM and we started off en route he stopped at a small shop probably because
he heard me say I had forgotten to buy a shawl or any other souvenir. I picked
up a yellow color shawl for myself at the shop that he had stopped and from
there nonstop we arrived at the Jammu airport. Attendance seemed to be
undergoing some repairs and very small but that was just some things that was
under entered as souvenir shop it also has food courts. Our flight was on time,
and we boarded are indigo flight. We arrived at Mumbai and it's like through
check-in for the luggage. Mumbai airport had lounge, so we went ahead and had
some food took rest for an hour and then boarded our Bangalore flight by 8:00
PM we were in Bangalore we took a uber and reached home by 10:30 PM. that marks
the end of our trip to Mata Vaishnov Devi it was a blessed trip and one that
was memorable.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0Bhavan, Katra, 18230133.0308295 74.94904164.7205956638211575 39.7927916 61.341063336178848 110.1052916tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28526170.post-80867500007082150952023-08-15T14:42:00.009+05:302024-02-08T20:30:37.544+05:30Bangalore To Hyderbad Drive
Dates: August

Day 1 drive from Bangalore to Kodai was almost 9 hours. We started at around 9:15 AM. With breaks for breakfast, Lunch and a tea we reached by 6:00 PM. The hill bottom to Kodai top is ~48 kilometers, that itself takes couple of hours as it is full bend curves. Evening was check-in and rest. temperatures were as low as 12 degrees.

The next day which was a Saturday we went around for a sight seeing. the destination is more fulfilling.

<span style="font-family: "Cambria",serif;">Day1:<span style="font-family: "Cambria",serif;"> Started from Bangalore around 6:30 AM. Reached
Dharmastala by afternoon 1:00 PM. Had Darshana and anna prasada at the
temple. From there we proceeded to
Southadka Ganesha Temple The southadka temple is a open temple with no building
/ structure. If you have a desire or
wish, you may visit this temple and pray to lord Ganesha to fulfill it. You would also promise the god that you will
come back and tie a “Bell” if your wish is fulfilled. Personally it has worked
for us.

<span style="font-family: "Cambria",serif;">From Southadka we
travelled to Mandarathi. The abode of Goddess Durga parameshwari. We had our night dinner at the temple where
they distribute Anna Prasada.

<span style="font-family: "Cambria",serif;">Stay - We stayed
at mandarathi temple guest house. Fairly decent rooms. You get hot water in
buckets in the morning. It is very close to the temple.

Enroute
Chibbalagudda Ganesha Temple we visited the Parashurama Temple in
Thirthahalli. The story goes that when
Parashurama axed his mother on behest of his father’s command, his axe had the
blood stain. He visited several places to wash it off, but the mark wouldn’t go. Finally, in Thirthaahlli, in river sharavathi
it was washed off. There is a temple
where Parashurama stayed & meditated. After this we headed to Chibbalagudda
Ganesha Temple. Small Serene temple of
Lord Ganesha. Here is the lord is Swaymbu, (appeared on its own from the
rock). There is a small river behind the
temple. Many people feed rice / puffed
rice to fishes there. A small shop
joint to the temple compound where you got a lot of home-made items such as
papad, jaggery, sambar powder etc. All the products are really tasty and
authentic. From Chibbalagudda we
travelled towards “Guli Guli Shankara”.
A Shiva temple. On the way we
also briefly stopped at Ambutheertha, the sharavathi river birthplace. There is
a continuous water stream here. They
have completely dug the place for some renovation but still you can see the
water flow.

<span style="font-family: "Cambria",serif;">We arrived at Guli
Guli Shankara temple by around 4:00. Not
many visitors were there. Its more famous for the pond near the temple where small
bubbles keep appearing. There is a coral
formation which is also rare for the place.
24 hours water keeps appearing in the pond and is said to have been coming
from Kashi. The saying here goes such as
you take a bilva leave and make a wish. You
drop it in the pond and the leaf sinks. If your wish is going to come true the
leaf will resurface. For few people it
appears as much in few seconds, for few in minutes. For some it just sinks and
never comes up. So try your luck. From Guli Guli Shankara temple we headed towards
a friends place in sagara for overnight stay.
Had a simple dinner.

300 steps that needs to be climbed to visit his holiness Sridhara swamji’s

water flow from the mouth of Nandi at the starting of the staircase. People can
take bath or sprinkle water. It is said to have cured skin disease. It was
almost afternoon. We had Anna dāna in the ashrama. It is an experience on it’s
own. Please do not miss the Anna prasada if you happen to visit the

It was a APSTRC Day Tour, started on December 16th Evening. The APSTRC bus arrives in designated stops in Bangalore. We took ours somewhere around Malleshwara. It then stops for dinner, and then non-stop Tirumala. By 2.00 AM he drops us in a hotel for 1 hour rest, followed by bath and to get ready. By early morning 4 we reach the foothill of Tirupati. We then get shifted to yet another bus / small traveler. Many devotees leave their footwear in the APSTRC itself not to carry footwear to the hill top. By 6:30 he would stop for breakfast. the Breakfast gets ready by 7:30 - 8:00. Its a buffet queue system. After Idly, Pongal, Vada with Chutney and sambar, we get a cup of coffee and then we are dropped at the darshan gate at around 9:00 ish. Then depending on when the gate opens it can take few hours to be in the queue and then get a darshan. by 2:30 PM we were out , had lunch in the same place we had breakfast. Post that he takes all of them to Mangala Devi temple at the foot hill. By 5:00 we head back to Bangalore and by 9:00 PM reach Bangalore. Entire darshan is done in 24 hours. Just the glimpse of lord Venkateshwara makes us feel so grateful. its a great 1 day tour for those who cannot book tickets in advance or plan ahead.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India13.6287557 79.4191795-14.681478136178846 44.2629295 41.938989536178845 114.5754295tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28526170.post-43733054907769226192021-10-25T09:52:00.001+05:302022-11-02T11:42:13.714+05:30Nimishamba Temple
October 24 2021

We had a prayer to visit Nimishamba temple, and the it had to be on a Monday Morning. So Sunday late evening we started off to Mysore. we stayed at my sister's house. Morning we started really early and visited the temple it is about 20 Kms and takes around 40-50 minutes. We also visited the river nearby. Due to rain it was flowing very rapidly. nice and fierce. Nimishamba temple can be covered in a day from Bangalore or can do a night half at Mysore. it's a very peaceful temple and must visit. don't forget the river.

Pretty unplanned. Started on October 02 being Saturday and government office were off for Gandhi Jayanti.

We invited Sudha and family. Anand and I started. Plan was to meet at Hassan. Enroute We had dosa at 'kicchana Halli Mane'. Dosa was good but so much oil and Ghee. Halli Mane'has a open skylight and the opening opens down on a small constructed tank. When we visited it was raining and the water would get collEcted in the tank. Ambience was very good and so was the hot coffee.

We met at Hassan at Surabhi residency at the circle. They parked their car at a friend's house. Plan was for Mandarati Durgaparmeshwari temple. We left Hassan at 5.00 pm. as we stared it was sunset time. We were still of the idea we would go to Mandarati. By 7 we entered agumbe ghats.

Agumbe ghats drive of approximately 20 kms was very beautiful with clouds passing through and also dangerous as we couldn't see a feet ahead.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28526170.post-27749700380092049722021-09-18T10:29:00.010+05:302021-09-27T19:05:17.573+05:30Birthday Special - Virajpet Coorg
17-19 September 2021

So it was time for the kids birthday celebrations. We are at Madikeri Coorg. Virajpet. A Beautiful property of Club Mahindra Lot of greenery. It's out of 34 acers with coffee plantation.

Arrived on 17th by evening. Kids had lot of fun playing family games at the resort. We visited the Home club and kids were already excited to see the mirror maze and 12-D attractions. They even took the virtual reality head gears and tried out the videos. Had a beautiful dinner. We chose the buffet. They have sorted out the veg and non-veg separate which is a big relief. Had a great deep sleep.

Morning of 18th. I as usual got up early. Had a beautiful 2.5 km walk around the property. Beautiful morning, no rains thankfully. So many birds it's melody of signing. Lovely flower's bloomed just out of the morning.

Beautiful Virajpet - Club Mahindra

With chess done now it's aim and arrow ! Any age group can keep themselves very occupied. We headed back to the room, took some rest. It was already lunch time. This particular property of Mahindra has good spread of soup, starters, detox drinks, rice items, counters for Nan, Chats and a separate deserts display. Post lunch we relaxed a bit and then went up to a falls nearby called Chelkere falls. Quite steep. I was able to climb up but with difficulty. Didn't wear my shoes, was in slippers hence slipped couple of times. The drive to the falls was also very challenging. Thanks to Anand's experience where had to use the hand breaks while taking a revers on the steep turns. We came back in an couple of hours. Kids participated in slow cycle race. Adarsh won the first place competing with 4 others. Post that they played some badminton and other games with some other families. We also played Dumbcharads of guessing movie names. It was so much fun. The host Darshan kept the families engaged. The Saturday night special for family event was Bollywood night. There was Song, dance performances with making the audience swing and clap and dance to the tunes. Very well organized programs. We then headed to the Dinner. Back to the room for a good night rest.

The next day, I visited Svasta the Spa and had a very good massage from Maya. Very clean and hygienic place. I do recommend this to everyone, dont miss. We had breakfast and started back to Bangalore. Enroute we visited the 'neelakurunji' mountains. I will blog that in a separate blog! for now until my next trip good memories.

The resort has sumptuous breakfast. We all decided that will join for a retirement party and probably look around some places in and around Mangalore.

We started off from Bangalore and I remember it was a Friday I'm actually blogging this after almost 12 months of our trip. I was continuously on calls as I had newly inherited a group of team members and the ongoing manager was actually doing their year and summaries. By afternoon we reached Mysore. we took some rest and then uh along with the Sudan, Savi we started off to Mangalore. Our first stop was at Mangalore beach. We really spent some time over there and then headed to Usha's house. We picked up Subrahmanyam and he was there with us throughout the journey.

We halted at our brother-in-law's place on that evening and the next day morning we all got ready and headed towards Mookambika Temple Kollur. On the way we stopped at a place which seems to have a lot of barren land with yellow grass around and there is a saying that says some aliens had landed over here we took some beautiful pictures especially during the sunset there was an awesome stop that we did.

Bangalore-Mangalore-Kamalashile-Annegudda-Mysore-Bangalore

Kamalashile Shri Brahmi Durgaparmeshwari temple was our main destination. We arrived a little later in the afternoon there. We could get beautiful rooms to stay at the temple premise itself. They have a website. By calling them and reserve the rooms. Well maintained and with AC also.

Evening we got to visit the goddess and witness the poojas. One family had a special Rathotsava or pulling the sacred chariot function. We got to witness that Morning also we all sisters got up early go ready and had a very pleasing darshan

We came back to Mangalore. Enroute we visited Annegudda temple also. We visited Suryanarayana Temple. A beautiful carving and Rudra was being chanted. We spent almost till 12:00 PM there. We then headed back to Mysore. We dropped Sudha and Savi at mysore and wanted to head back to Bangalore. Our Car headlights gave away. Tried getting it repaired at 'Babu' automobiles at Mysore with help of Subbu (Ani's friend). It didn’t work out so we returned back to Sudha's house. Had dinner and slept. Morning we started back to Bangalore. Finally reached by afternoon! Wow that was lot of temple tour, beach trip and alien places.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28526170.post-23004387001989871302020-12-25T10:35:00.032+05:302022-01-02T21:42:53.870+05:30Devarayana Durga & Seebi Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temples

Dec25 and 26

As the year was closing it was the you're in planning that we all started. we wanted to do a two to three days travel but then you due the covid situations we thought maybe a one day trip would be ideal. They are not harmful but only thing to watch out is if you have any eatables in your hands they would just snatched away. The temples are very old and it's really a pleasure to enter the cool and come garghagriha, built of stone several thousands of years ago. The Idol can be seen very close and with good lighting . There is quite some place around the temple where one can sit for some time and enjoy the nature and the temple complex.

We then headed towards Seebi temple which is 40 kilometers away. On the way we took a brief stop to complete our lunch which we had back from our house. And as I already mentioned there are quite some monkeys which came by so we all packed things back into the car and had our lunch inside the car. This was also quite some experience . We then headed towards the temple and reached by 5:00 PM. The Seebi temple has a history which goes by the grandson of Prahalada, did Penance to Sri Lakshmi naraimha Swamy diety to appear before him and bless him . It is said that The Lord granted his boon and said that he shall appear in the form of a lingam. hence in this temple you shall be able to see the God not as half lion and half human but in the saligrama lingam state. After the puja and receiving the blessings we then headed back towards home and reached Bangalore back in 1.5 hours.

It was a great drive as well a pleasure to have visited the temples. it can be done in one day a must visit and a great place for the travelers.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28526170.post-67467042387630128222020-11-14T11:39:00.031+05:302020-11-28T10:28:07.411+05:30Bhoo VarahaSwamy Temple - Kallahalli

Bhoo Varaha Swamy Temple - Kalahalli (Near Mysore)

Bhoo Varaha Swamy Temple, Kalahalli

November 14th 2020

It started as a usual Saturday but everyone wanted to go on a drive. The blessings of the god is believed to bring abundance.

the temple hosts 18 feet tall statue of Lord Vishnu in the form of Varaha Swamy, on his left they sits the deity Lakshmi. the temple is very beautiful and the idols are a feast to the eyes.

We started around 2 in the afternoon and on the way we had a small break for the lunch. We took the rice prasadam which was very hot and spicy and very well prepared. We then went near the River. We spend some nice time at the flowing water. By 6:00 PM we return back to the car. I would like to blog my thoughts on our visit to agalakote. It was a lazy Sunday as usual and I was thinking what to do after a long weekend of August 15th which was Independence Day for India so when Anand got up around 10:00 a.m. I very hesitantly asked can we go out somewhere he asked where would you like to go I just Googled and saw that agalakote was around 2 hours of journey so I asked him he can we go to agalakote for my surprise he just said yeah let's go and you I had to get ready fast so that he does not change his mind

I was already getting ready and he was still having his second cup of coffee I wanted are we going to make it and by 11 we actually started we Google the location and looks like it was the kolar Malur road then Anand called his uncle and made sure we were taking the right route the road was pretty comfortable for a long distance and in between we found that there were like a little bit of harm send curvy roads but because it was our XUV we did not find the travel and comfortable by 3:15 we reached agalakote it's a small village where 10 to 12 people are staying we could hardly see four of them the land looks green there was this temple which, I wanted to visit to understand who the kuladevata was this was the temple of Mariamma renovated

There was a old lady who came and open the temple door for us and I said you can only do Pooja the the priest comes only on Tuesday and Fridays ok so we actually did the Pooja and worship the Goddess the Goddess was looking very beautiful after this we took a lot of pictures near the old crumbling ancestral house

There was a sense of satisfaction for having come all the way for we could see the Goddess and the old house there were lot of tomatoes being grown and the new landlord gracefully give us a bag full of it I had already packed some rice and rasam and curds for us as we were told there were no hotels shops nearby we had stomach full of lunch and then started from agalakote

This was one of the beautiful travel of 2019 and we had lot of memories that brought back travel Diaries for myself and Anand we enjoyed the drive and felt happy for a beautiful Sunday spend together.
As I was getting into my new role in field service got an opportunity to attend a official off-site at coorg. Ayathana a one year old resort in Coorg. Beautiful landscape awesome scenery and the constant rain made the experience more loveable.

The uniqueness of this 28 acre property comes from a waterfall overseen by cafeteria. A infinity pool and a spa adds to the luxury.

As the summer set in we planned for our first travel of the year almost in Feb itself. It was Jim Corbett National park and Auli in North India. Things changed quickly as a war like situation occurred in the North due to Phulwama incident.

We changed our plans to Kerala, this time to explore the beaches and not the Himalayas. Being member of Club Mahindra chose two resorts Alleppey and Kumarakom.

The onward Journey was Bangalore to Allzphula station which is very near to Alleppey. Booked for AC 3 Tier tickets. Journey was very comfortable. The continuous food options in AC train journey is a welcome and sometimes a overdose. By 8PM we tried sleeping, as our co-passengers wanted to relax. I could get good sound sleep for 2-4 hours, after which every hour I would wake up with a jerk and check the time. The train which starts at 4:45 PM from Bangalore central reaches Alappuzha at 5:47. We got down at the station, took a hot coffee and took a Innova to Ramada - Club Mahindra associate hotel. For 6 KMs he charged 400 Rupees. These are pre fixed rates for taxis out there and there is big board near the railway station itself. So not much scope for any negotiation.

The usual check-in time for Ramada Alleppey is around 10. We reached by 6:15
AM. At the reception, the only welcome was, "Please come-in".
Wait for 1 hour. We will get the room. I went and checked after 45 minutes. The
guy at the reception looked at the clock and said 15 more minutes. Guess it's a
standard protocol and something we went through because we arrived early.

We stayed there for 3 Nights. Day 1 was just lazing around, used the pool,
looked around, went for a kerala ayurvedic massage.

The stay was comfortable. I booked a Studio per the
Club Mahindra standards. It looked more like a single bedroom and less like a
studio. Looks like the affiliate rooms are like these.

The Property is pretty well placed overlooking the
lake and back waters. The shikara and boats just start from the backside
of the hotel. Big advantage. Ramada has a big swimming pool, carrom and
badminton court. Good buffet spread.

started, had lunch, went to coir museum, Light House, Indian Coffee House,
Marari beach. Had a good view of Sunset. Played like small kids in the beach.
Marari is a peaceful less populated very private kind of beach. A Must

Had a plantain leaf food at a veg restaurant nearby and Adi and I went to shantisukam Ayurvedic massage. I am writing this blog watching the CSK vs RCB match. A day tour and picnic spot near Bangalore

7th August we planned for a day picnic somewhere around Bangalore. I had been for several years thinking about going to Lepakshi. So finally we started off to Lepakshi on 8th August at around 11.00 AM.

We reached Lepakshi which is around 130 KMS by 1:30. We saw the archeological wonder which was built several centuries back. The veerabhadreshwara temple, the mantap, the monolithic rock carving for Nandi statue and the wonder Pillar which is not touching the ground but floating.

At the Nandi statue park we had bisibele bath and Curd rice which I had prepared at home in the morning. While we were reaching Lepakshi enroute we had seen Nandi hills covered with lots of clouds. So while we completed visiting Lepakshi, enroute we visited Nandi hills. That was an awesome experience! It was drizzling and completely covered with fog.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
Had a great experience in that weather. We then headed back home and settled at home by 8

June 15-16 2018

Trip to Sringeri

Mid of June it was. 15th. News channels had been telecasting that almost north canara and coastal had submerged. I had Day off on 15th for Ramzan. I wanted to visit sringeri. Anand made up his mind and said let's go. The journey was awesome.. We started at about 11 am and with one coffee break and 1 lunch break we made it to sringeri by 5.30 pm. We checked into the homestay belonging to Anand's friend. Freshened up and went to visit the temple. Serene, calm and beautiful it was. Not many people had arrived fearing the rain. Got lot of time and space to visit the diety. Sharadamba was beautiful in the white Saree and flower decorations.
We then made it to narasimhavana across the bridge. The news channels had almost made announcement that it was all submerged. None of that was true. After spending good time we came back to the temple premise. We had dinner at 7.30 pm and returned back to the homestay.
Logging this in the morning. I couldn't get much sleep through the night. .
Returned to Bangalore by 5.00 pm.

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Started during October 29, Day 1 of Deepawali festival. Wanted to go on a long drive as we had almost 4 days holiday. We started 4.00 AM Saturday morning, a very pleasing time to start the journey. Not much traffic, with couple of breaks for breakfast and coffee we reached Karwar by 2.30. We checked into a guest house and were served hot food. After a small nap, by 4 we started to check out Karwar and nearby places. We visited the famous Karwar Ship museum. A very old ship which is now converted as a museum. It really helped the kids get an idea how life on ship goes on for months together.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Post the museum we visited Ravindranath tagore beach. Abhi had fun playing in the sand, Adarsh and Siri went for boat rides. Perfect timing and very nice weather. October end seems to be the right time to visit the beach. We returned to the rooms and after a good meal, hit the bed, and were asleep soon. By this time we had made up our mind we wanted to visit Goa the next day. So by 9 we finished our breakfast and started for Goa.. 2 hours we were therbe.. and the first thing we wanted to visit was St. Xaveire Church. We went round and round the area to discover that the church we were checking on the google map was a just a small building and which was closed. After this we realized we had to visit the Basilica where St. Xaveire's body is kept in a closet and out for display. This is a world heritage monument. As it was sunday the rush was much. but we made our way through and visited the church. First visit for both my kids, they had never seen a church from inside. After this we went to Miramar beach. Close by to the church. Clean and neat. It was already 2, but we didn't find a good hotel, meanwhile there was a 1 hour boat ride where they promise you to show the dolphins. So we took tickets and as we were slightly hungry got some churmuri to eat. It was really nice, and just after we boarded the boat, we also got some nice sweet pineapples. The boat ride is really good, one should not miss this. There is a loud Bollywood music on-board and the boat members encourage the riders to dance. Few kids started dancing. By the middle of the beach we spotted several dolphins which come out to breath. On this ride we also get to see some light house, central jail , a palace etc.. from very far, its just a time pass. By 4 we were out and headed straight to Cafe coffee day. We grabbed some sandwitch and went for shopping to Market street Goa. It's small lanes and because it was Diwali most shops were closed. I didn't find much to pick up. We then headed towards Sanatan Ashram. This was a miracle in itself. We were not sure if we will visit Goa, on top of it, if we will get a opportunity to visit the Ashram. Both me and my sister felt really blessed. Post this visit we headed straight to Karwar. Dinner was ready at the guest house. Post dinner we decided to leave the next day morning to Bangalore by 8.30.
By 9 we were ready and headed back to Bangalore. Never felt the 1000+ kilometers drive. Enjoyed the 3 day Karwar Goa trip.
Waiting till my next trip..
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">11 May 2016
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

With Bangalore reaching 40 degrees, Our plan to visit Shimla-Kullu-Manali came as a big relief. Not that we would get a permanent change, but a week of great escape sounded pretty well. So we got this big tour package arranged.

We started on 11th May at around 6 AM to the airport. We reached pretty well in time. The flight to chandighar was at 10. After we checked-in the baggage, we got ourselves a great serving of breakfast at the premium lounge at the Bengaluru Airport.

From Chandigarh we were received by our travel agents car which took us to Shimla. We spent a good couple of days in Shimla and then proceeded to Manali. Enroute we had a stop at Kufri. We did the great boat rafting and then realized that the water temperature was at around 4 degrees. It still feels cold :)

From Shimla we headed back to Chandigarh and en route I found out from a cousin that Manikarnika is a very religious and must visit tourist spot. The driver was not so happy with the detour but agreed. We started as early as 4.00 AM and reached Manikarnika. With hot spring bath and Gurudwara visit we felt it was a good decision. We then reached Chandigarh at around evening and in that hot weather we saw some tourist spots like the rose garden and the Rock garden. The rock garden is a must visit to everyone. Very creative it is. We took a night halt at Chandigarh and morning took flight to Bangalore. It was a great Summer trip. We had horse riding, river rafting, a bit of snow play and lot of leisure family time.
<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: xx-normal;">I have taken an absolute 8.5 months to blog this post. Hope I can recollect
everything. It was yearend and we wanted to take a 2-3 days’ break.
Wanted to celebrate the new year with less noise and more silence.
I started searching the web for options and finally ended up with this option http://dandelitrip.com/ Initially
I had a lot of reservations on if this is genuine or not. The
website and the phone were the only two things I had as proof, and the brothers
(yeah they are brothers and both keep responding to the queries) were active on
WhatsApp. anyway made some interesting decision and went ahead with the
booking. The package was very good. The stay, food, sightseeing,
all the activities including river rafting, kayaking, Zorbing, raffling all-inclusive
the package came to around 2.5K per person for 2 days. so for the 4 of us
I guess we payed around 8K or so.

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: xx-normal;">
The drive to Dandeli from Bangalore is awesome. it’s a national highway
and one way lanes. So post lunch I drove for 200 or so kilometers.
Really enjoyed the ride. That night we stayed at Davengere, and
decided to have a cut journey. Next day we started after breakfast and reached Dandeli
by afternoon. Got some real hot food for lunch and checked into a room. It
was a good decent place to stay. After a quick nap and rest, we went out.
We did the boating and a sightseeing and came back by evening. The
resort guy had put some camp fire, so sat around that for some time before we
had the dinner and hit the bed. Because of the travel we were so tired we
all just slept off.

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: xx-normal;">Morning we got ready, had breakfast and went to see couple of local attraction
like Supa dam and Cyntheri rock. Nice places and worthwhile visiting. We came
back to the tent by 2 PM or so. He had asked us to shift to big tents vs
the rooms he had given us. So we shifted quickly (guess he had more
guests so we also obliged because kids wanted to experience the tent stay).
Post lunch we went to river rafting. the force of the water was not
so great. We understood that it has to be during season and that’s I guess
around monsoon, around August+. so we got to do kayaking, zorbing and like he
made us sit in water for some time, that’s also an adventure! All in all,
it was an awesome experience especially for the kids, they really enjoyed.
Late evening, we came back to the tent, had hot food which was really
good and hit the bed.

<span style="font-family: "times" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: xx-normal;">The third day was
the new year Eve, 31st December. We had a very relaxed day. not
much to do that day. We wanted to go to Dhudh Sagar but we understood that it
was banned and not many were allowed. So by afternoon we just went around
the town and came back. Evening a lot of people out there who were visitors
like us gathered around the firewood. We also spent sometime and called
it a day. Jan 1st morning we started back to Bangalore. Enroute we
stopped for our breakfast and lunch breaks at Davengere. Back home we got
couple more days to rest as the next couple of days being weekend.
Awesome trip it was. Total distance between Bangalore to Dandeli is
460+ Kilometers. It will take almost 8-9
hours travel with breaks. The best thing
to do is take a break at Davengere, stay there, which is around 5 hours from
Bangalore and Davengere to Dandeli is 4 hours.

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">October 22-24 2015
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This was one of the cool leisure trip we had. We planned not to travel around too much and that helped.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">We booked a hotel room for 22nd and 23rd a week before. It was Dussehara time and almost all the hotels, resorts were booked. My initial idea was to stay at Bakula homestay. but they were pretty full. So the owner offered us a room hotel in Sapna Yatri Nivas. We set out on 22nd after office pooja, Auydhapooja on the occasion of Dussehara. We started by 10.30. We took the root of AH47. Bangalore-Hubli-Haveri-Sirsi. Though it is additional few kilometers compared to the shimoga route, it is a super highway. That was the best choice. With a break for lunch in between, we reached Sirsi by 5.00 PM. The drive was very nice hence not much strain. We checked into Sapna Yatri Nivas, a decent hotel near the bus stop. After refreshment, we went around to see the city. We first visited the Raghavendra Swamy temple, which is very near to the Bus stand. A very calm place. We then set out to see the city.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Sirsi is a small town, with 2 Km radius in and around the bus stand, you can cover the heart of the city. We happen to see a theatre there, Lakshmi theatre and they were screening a new telugu movie called "Bruclee" starring Ram Charan. We wanted the kids to experience the theatre, which are now a past in Banglore. They are used to only booking film tickets online and sitting in AC multiplexes, with pop-corn tubs and pepsi colas pouring in. When we entered this theatre most of the seats were empty. We chose to sit in a row in the balcony, (as there is no seat number concept), we then shifted little closer to the screen so we could hear the dialouges well and avoid much of the mosquito menace at the back. It was a big struggle for the kids to sit in those old seats thru the film. they were comparing to the luxury of Bangalore every 2 minutes. During the interval, Anand took the kids to view the projector. Now that was a good deal. They really liked the concept and felt as if they were looking at some heritage. Post the movie we came back to the hotel, had some decent dinner and slept off.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> Morning we got ready leisurely , visited the famous "Marikamba Temple" of Sirsi. being Friday, there was good rush and the alankara was also done very nicely. We then headed to "Yana" a very famous rocky place. I had been wanting to visit Yana atleast now for 10 years I guess. We had somehome missed it. When we reach the spot, we are allowed to park the cars and we got to walk for 0.5 kms towards the spot. Being dry season there were no leaches. The rush was decent, not many people. Near the foot of the hill, there is swaymbhu - self manifested Shiv linga in the rock. there is regular puja for the shiv linga here. We were then told that by putting a round around the hill, it is like doing a parikrama around the linga. Hence we set out all enthu to go around the hill. We were asked to take off the chappals at the foot of the hill and about a Km. around the hill is to be covered bare footed. The path is full of small stones and pretty uneven, and hence wasnt easy especcialy if someone is carrying bags, luggages or kids it is difficult. But once we completed the round, we felt very nice. The rock has a mythology and scientific reasons for being that way. The mythology is around the story of bhasmasura (lot of read on google) and the scientific reason for the monolythic 390 ft hill is around a astreriod hit. What ever the real reason is, it is definetly a wonder to be seen and enjoyed. really awesome place, a must-see for travellers.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">En route yana we do get the famous Manjuguni venkateswara temple. it is approximately 4-5 kilometers. We reached the temple by noon 1 and what a perfect timing. We got darshan and of course like any other south indian temple we also got food in the temple. Temple darshan and food closes out by 1.30 So very important to plan accordingly. Else it opens at 4.00 in the evening, it can be planned to visit in the evening as well.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;"> After lunch at the temple, we then proceeded to unchalli falls. A very famous falls in Uttarkannada district. Even now when it wasn't raining, the falls was so luxuriously falling down, it was definitely a site to be seen. The unchalli falls entry is around 25/- rupees. We parked the car and then proceeded towards the falls. it is almost a 2 Kilometer steep walk towards the falls. It takes a little effort to go there. Wear shoes preferably and avoid too much luggage, it saves some breath. Once we reach the spot we got to see the wonder so all the strain kind of disappears. There are 3 spots, or view points from which we can see the unchalli falls. It is good to visit all the three spots, just 100 meters away from each other. Now having visited the spot, climbing back to our car parking was much more tedious because of the steep climb. It was probably reminding of our unhealthy bangalore life style as well :)
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Enroute we stopped at a spot called Bheemvara gudda, or bheemadevara gudda. A awesome breathtaking scenic spot where 360 degree view of mountains can be seen. We reached there by 4.30 and stayed back till 6.00 when the sun was just setting. Anand also spotted a beautiful green snake, non-harming as we understand and took a lot of pictures. I sat there among the clouds for several minutes to enjoy the nature. the beautiful black bird was diving down with its beak and coming back in circular motion, showing how wonderful it is to be part of nature. We then headed back to the hotel. By 7.30 we were back in the hotel and with dinner at 8.30 we dozed off. The extreme trek in yana and unchalli falls, helped us get good sleep.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Saturday morning, we got up and checked out of the hotel. We visited the bakula homestay, which has a water flow within the resort. This was the much promised place for the kdis. They spent a good couple of hours there. We then headed towards Banavasi. its approximately 30 Kms. The road is average for the first 10 kms, but then it is very beautiful road till the Banavasi. Banavasi is a ancient temple town. It has madukeshwara the deity worshiped here. The town once was the capital of the Kadamba rulers, an ancient royal dynasty of Karnataka. Now the timing we visited again perfect, we got to visit the temple and surprisingly we good lunch as well in the temple. We weren't expecting and didnt know as well. We had lunch by 1.30 and headed straight back to bangalore. The route we took was via dasanakoppa-haveri-hubli-Bangalore. 8.30 we reached home , cooked food and had dinner, remembering the wonderful trip we had for last 3 days.
